DL MD-90 Seating Question

Wed Sep 01, 2004 11:03 am

I am flying on a Delta MD-90 in about a week and a half, and currently I am seated in seat 17A. Now, looking at photos of the MD-90, I see that there is a space where there is no window somewhere near the front of the coach cabin. My question is, what row is this window in? SeatGuru says nothing of it, so I am relying on you.

Thanks,
Jeff

It looks like you should be fine.

Using Delta's seatmap (http://www.delta.com/travel/plan/aircraft_types/md-90/index.jsp) and a picture

and then counting back by from the emergency exit, using two windows per for, 17A is behind the no-window. 17A might be infront of the gap, but it looks like it should not at the gap.

Someone might be able to confirm that.

It looked like it was behind it by a couple of rows, but I just wanted to make sure...there are other window seats available on the plane, but I would prefer to be (a) on the 2-side and (b) up toward the front, as the faster I get off the plane, the better...

Then again, I am going to try and go for the bulkhead seats (I'll be checking in 24 hours in advance to nail those).

17A, that's on the 3 side. I thought that Delta was 3-2 on the MD series planes, whereas AA is 2-3. I sat in 11F on MD88 a couple months ago and it was on the right, 2 side.

"I thought that Delta was 3-2 on the MD series planes..."

Delta is 2-3 on the MD-90 and 3-2 on the MD-80/88

Delta uses the AA style config on their MD-90s, including not having any seats between the rear galley and the lavs (the MD-88s have 3 rows of seats behind the rear galley, in front of the lav). The reason for the increased capacity is (to my knowledge, please correct me if I'm wrong) that the M90 is about 5 feet longer than the M88, and the M88 has an extra row of F (14 seats vs. 12 on the M90).

Now before you fly on the MD90, Don't worry, the engines are started when he takes off (That is how quiet that bird was).

I've just had a look at photos in the database of MD90s and it seems that only Delta's have the blank - all the other airlines' aircraft have a window there. Anyone know why?

It's the same with Delta's MD-88s. There is one blank on the port side only. I've also been wondering why.
