Last PSA Do-328 To Leave Fleet 6Sept

Fri Sep 03, 2004 5:39 am

I was talking to a PSA "doorknob" pilot the other day and was asking him about the retirement of the D328. He told me the last bird will leave for MYR, yes MYR, on 6Sept04. He told me they were being prepped in Ackron,OH for storage in MYR for another airline. Anyone have a clue what airline has a base in Myrtle Beach, or uses MYR for a pickup location?

I thought the 328 was a pretty modern, up-to-date propliner(???). I haven't flown in one, but I'm SURE they're more pleasant than those ancient Dash 8's that US Express still uses scores of.... I HATE those Dash 8's!
Finally made it to an airline mecca!

They are a pretty modern, up-to-date propliner, however because Dornier went under (i am aware that Avcraft took over the -300) support for the aircraft is very hard to get. That is why air wisconsin got rid of their D38 fleet. It is a comfortable aircraft and will be missed.
Cross check complete.

CAK-PIT has 6 D-328 roundtrips daily. Soon, they will be replaced by some Dash-8 and RJ aircraft.

Definitely a cool looking plane with six-spoke props and a nice shape!

Last PSA Do-328 To Leave Fleet 6Sept

The doorknobs that PSA has are only 10 years old. They still have a life with the airline that picks them up. TYS will get the last doorknob flight on the 6th I believe. Then it's off to Myrtle Beach. Hooter's Air maybe? lol im kidding. If anyone has any info on the new carrier for these birds, Id appreciate it

With 328s coming from a variety of places, Great Plains, Air Wisconsin and now PSA, the aircraft could make for an attractive J-32/41 replacement. Berry Aviation from Texas has been advertising for 328 crews in recent weeks apparently replacing Metroliners. Berry has been operating everything from Atlantic City casino charters to DOD trips on the West Coast.
My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.

US Express without a doubt has the most interesting express fleet in the air.

Currently: Beech 1900, Jetstream J41, Saab 340, Dornier 328, Dash-8-100/200/300, Embraer 145, Embraer 170, CRJ-200, CRJ-701.

Did I miss anything? What a fleet.
