Transbrasil Accident This Sunday***

Mon Feb 28, 2000 3:25 pm

Yesterday a B737-300? from Transbrasil skidded on the tarmac of Salgado Filho Airport in Porto Alegre. There were 104 pax and 7 crewmembers. It happened at 8:20p.m. local time, 5:20p.m. ET.
The aircraft was constantly changing the altitude and the airplane brakes got stucked. The airplane skidded and fell on a pit just next to the avenue that takes to the airport.
My sister was coming from the beach and she saw the whole thing.

I just read about it on Yahoo! Accidents (you can get there via Just Planes Videos). The aircraft - a 737-400 - does not look at all happy. Its tail is pointing quite seriously upwards, indicating that its nosegear has probably been ripped off. Any update on the damage, Air Chick? Possible write off?
