Today: Final Day For Dornier 328s Of US Express

Wed Sep 08, 2004 12:09 am

Looks like these planes are in their final day of operations at US Express (PSA). US has a great express fleet, so many types! It's a shame to lose a beauty like this. Oh well....

That sux.

Maybe Skyway (Midwest) will pick them up to replace the 1900's giving the best of both worlds in TP and RJ.

Be interesting to go past Akron-Canton Airport. There are useally a ton of them sitting around there due to PSA MX. I remeber when they started pulling them out , on the west side of the field were 20 or so D328's. Now its CRJ's it looks like!

Anyone know if PSA still has a crew base at CAK?

PSA is closing its crew base at CAK on November 1.

PSA is apparently keeping its maintenance base at CAK open.
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.

Yes, they should have a long life left... mechanically speaking. From a financial standpoint however, apparently US feels the CRJ-200 and CRJ-700 will get more revenue for PSA by carrying more people.

As Dornier is out of business, spare parts for a fancy ac that only carries 31 passengers was likely becoming a problem. The last flights for the type are mainly PIT-CAK today, at 13:10, 15:15, 18:15, 20:10 and 20:25. The last one, 2566 PIT-CAK, has a very light load and is probably the final revenue flight for the PSA 328 fleet.

There are a number of the Do328's parked at YYC (Calgary International airport; Calgary, Alberta, Canada). Always loved the way they looked...sort of like a Dash 8 on steroids...

...as a side, I have one of the last model kits produced by a small german company of a Do328. I plan on converting it into the 328J...

Glad to see avcraft take over the line. With proper marketing, I am sure the 328J / 428J could do well...

The Dornier 328 is one good-looking turboprop, no question about it!!
