Please Help Find My Plane!

Wed Sep 08, 2004 7:05 am

Anyone have any idea what ever happened to our first plane, we leased a new learjet 23 from bell avation in about 1966-67 it was #805 and first reg was N805 L J then it was N123JB I was the personal assistant for James Brown for over 30 years and we had many planes, but this first lear was a lot of fun! Someone said it had ended up with the royal bank of scotland, but they say not. Mr. Brown wants me to call him and let him know what I find. Thanks!

I'm sure if you called Lear Customer Support they'd be happy to help you find it in their data base. Worth a shot anyway...You can also search this web site...

http://www.airlinerlist.com

Scan down, they have a downloadable list for Learjets. I searched it, but didn't see N805LJ.. I saw 804LJ and 806LJ. If you have the s/n that is a BIG help.

Well, if that is it.. the data base I gave shows it being parted out 2 months ago. The serial number falls into the right grouping with N804LJ being s/n:015, and N806LJ being s/n:073.

Check out the following linK:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/hjcurtis/prodam.html

Scroll down to Gates/ and there will be 2 other links for Learjets... The 2nd one is an Excel spreadsheet...

Having the MSN would be a big help, as someone else mentioned...

THANKS!! Very sad this plane is someplace in the scrap yard. If only I could find it and buy the hull for the museum. Hard to believe it has been almost 40 years ago we got this plane and worked it to death doing one night stands in big as well as tiny venues. In 1967 Doug Bell landed us in a grass air field in a town in Alabama so James could be closer to the gig. We also had this plane on several album covers, as well as publicity items... I wish we had this old friend back!

I'm sure Doug Bell would deny that accusation... If he wants to keep his certificates, that is. Smile TC
