Air Force 2 In San Francisco For MX

Thu Sep 09, 2004 1:01 am

Just got word from my co-worker, his sister is working on one of the 757's in the UAL Hangers. UAL apparently is going to be working on the 757 for about a week. It was flown in last night under the cover of dark, I doubt for any intentional reasons. The plane is in a secure hanger with multiple S.S. guarding it. Its was cool to get a first hand account of what the plane is like. Obviously some interesting gizmo's in the cockpit. Not an drop of grease anywhere on the plane, and when the mechanics go on the a/c they are told to remove their shoes. Just a little tid-bit, maybe we can get lucky enough to what the plane leave next wek!

How can anybody interested in aviation not know how to spell the correct hangar?!?!  Nuts

Also, I thought the military did the maintanence on that plane and on all governmental aircraft.

Interesting... when I flew back to school out of SFO on the 27th I could've sworn I saw one of the Kerry/Edwards 752s hanging out in the UAL hangar area...

UAL got the mx contract on these birds shortly after the purchase contract was awarded to Boeing. 1st Airlift Squadron does the line mx on 'em with support from UAL.

Ok A** Sorry, I'm at work and need to type fast. We were not all 4.0 students and in the spelling bee like you. Nice to see you can waste your time!

And you thought wrong. UAL is working on a Air Force plane. So NO the military does not do all the work on that plane!

ASSFO cheers!

I work by the Andrews AFB and get to see these planes takeoff and land all the time. The 757 in questions has huge set of engines on it. Does anyone know what kind they are? They are unusually large for a 757.

As739x Thanks for the heads up. Appreciate this kind of interesting info. Let us know if you hear of an estimated time of departure. I'd like to spot it.

SJC>SFO You're right Kerry's plane was parked there as it was the previous time he visited the Bay Area. That's where the big wigs' big "biz jets" park. That area was also where the King of Jordan's A343 parked early this year ( or was it late last year?) when he gave a speech in SF and 'lectured' a piece of his mind to Bush re the war with Iraq.
