Air Asia Tames Even The Wildest Tiger ............

Thu Sep 09, 2004 6:24 pm

Air Asia's Latest promotion for the Singapore Bangkok Route.

What do you guys think of the situation in asia? 50cents is incredibly cheap for a plane ticket... even though its only the starting fare...

competition is really heating up now isnt it... with ValuAir, Air Asia, Tiger Air, and Nok Air coming in (sorry if i forget to mention others) .. Which do you think will go bust and which will live?

Air Asia are really working hard. The move seems to mirror that of Ryanair's when they offer 'free tickets' (excluding tax) to attract passengers.

Any news on the imminent order by the airline for 80 short-haul aircraft?

I've read somewhere (sorry I don't remember where) that Thai branch of Air Asia reported US$ 20 million loss for Jan-Jun 2004, so I guess the competition is really heating up and only the strongest (perhaps with major airline backing?) will survive.

The campaign is a response to Tigers Airways 1$ ticket for SIN-BKK, SIN-HKT and SIN-HDY. The competition is going to be more fierce as OX will resume BKK-SIN soon. (according to the newspaper's report)

So what if the THAI investors lost $20 million. The THAI AIR ASIA is 51% owned by a company that is owned by Thailand's richest man... who also happens to be the country's Prime Minister.
