Yes, I have all sorts of opinions on the status of the industry (that comes as no surprise).
Why don't you drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and tell me how to contact you so we dont clutter up the board.
I have 24 hr duty tomorrow and can even holler on the cell phone if you want a phone call.
I'll check my e mail before I go in to work in the morning.
Bottom line: Don't know if he'll do it, but Gary Kelly ought to grab about 12-15 gates at DFW
You guys DO
NOT want JetBlue or airTran set up in your backyard.
You already have a crew domicile in Dallas.
Lots of maintenance available at Love Field.
No new advertising costs.....everybody in Big D already knows you.
out of the picture, delays and being "#52 for takeoff" at DFW
becomes much less of an issue.
You really could get by on the cheap, opening up DFW
.....you could pretty much run everything out and back. Everything originates at DFW
in the morning between 6 and 8 pm, and the terminators come home to roost that night between 10 pm and midnight. Reduces RON costs for your crews and such. You could still get an early trip in to DFW
from such places as Phoenix, Midway, BWI
You could do the ever popular one stops out of there and serve a whole lot of markets:
and so on and so forth.
You know, if the price is right, people will jump right on a one stop with no change of planes. Other airlines have overlooked one stops for years in lieu of their hub theory.
My real thoughts are ATA will limp along for a bit, but you guys need to be ready to dump capacity in Midway if they do float to the top of the fishbowl.
You may be able to get more gates at PHL
, so don;t put all the 200s out to pasture yet.
If USAirways stumbles, WN
needs to be in Pittsburgh the very next day. You needed to have gone to PIT
already, but this DL
thing at DFW
is too ripe a piece of low hanging fruit to resist. Grab it and take a bite.
