AA Commercials From 2002

Sun Sep 12, 2004 11:31 am

Hello!

Before going to flight school, I used to work for AA, and absolutely loved the two commercials they aired in 2002. One of them was called "Engine" but I can't remember the other name.

I've looked online for them to download, with no luck. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of them?

Thanks!

I'll top that. I've got all three 2002 commercials available off my website. I downloaded them back when they were available off of AA's website. They're good commercials. I've also uploaded a 2002 commercial for Latin American markets called Brazos.

I really like the above, but after looking at tm advertising(the firm that does AAdvertising), I watched "The Great American Get-Together" commercials from right around the time of Engine, Way of Life, and Effort. The Great American Get-Together ads are completely different from the typical AAds. I also saw some of AA's print ads there, I never saw any of them in publications, but they looked really cool.

go to tm.com to see them.

Pilottim747, you're wonderful.

'Engine' is my favorite. I love the background music. Reminds me of Enya 'Storms in Africa'

BTW, I think AA should bring back the 'Engine' and 'Way of Life' ads.

Thank you PT747.

Speaking of commercials, does anyone have the TWA commercial from 2000 that shows cattle going through a chute, making fun of Southwest. I would love to see that one again. the main line was "you're not a cow, so why fly a cattle car airline".

Thanks,

Also speaking of commercials, when will the new "We Know Why You Fly" commercials be on the internet?

The new "We Know Why You Fly" commercials are now available on AA's employee website. I've tried downloading them, but haven't been successful. DVDs are being mailed out to all employees which include the print ads and commercials. I'll try to upload it here, once I receive the DVD.

I have it on my computer if you want it. I got it from the advertiser's website. I absolutely love the advertisement and I see it many times a day. It is one of the best I have ever seen.

Wow!

Thank you all so much for the wonderful information! I can't wait to download them and have them in my computer. When I worked for American and would be discouraged or something, I'd just play the "Engine" and "Way of Life" commercials on my computer and feel so energized. I can't wait to have them available again.

Thanks again for the excellent replies!

It is Enya in the background of that commercial. I was working at my desk earlier today listening to some random music and heard that. I thought to myself, "Now, why did the computer start playing that American Airlines commercial?" I looked up, and it wasn't playing it...it was playing the song.

The Engine and Way of Life commercials are some of the best airline commercials to be created. I love the fact that they used actual airline employees for them.

"We are an airline...that is proud to bear the name...American."

More about "Engine" and "Way of Life" http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/731237/

Incidentally I was unable to download Brazos and Effort from the second post above. Anyone who wants the other two, just drop me a line.

The new commercials are now available at http://www.whyyoufly.com. The website officially launched today.

As far as "Engine" and "Way of Life" are concerned, I agree they are some of the best airline advertising around. I, too, wish they'd come back. In the original post about them a couple of years ago, a lot of posters commented the footage looked old. Well, it was. AA decided to use all stock footage, even of employees, to minimize the cost of producing the ads. So, interestingly enough, those were probably the cheapest ads AA has ever produced, but probably the most poignant and remembered of all.

You can still catch the ads every so often on CBS Eye On American, one of the inflight entertainment options.

Does anyone know where I can obtain a download of "Way of Life" with better resolution?

Mia - Thanks so much for sending me the engine.mov file. I love it!

Their new "We know why you fly" ad campaign seems to be quite attractive as well. Should be good for captivating attention and passengers.  Smile
