Okay, I've said this time and time again. Don't expect any new flight out of RDU
ANYTIME soon. Midway rarely made a profit on MSY
. It just isn't a big enough market. I can assure you that RDU
won't see I-Air transcon service for a long time unless a subsidy is offered and they have a reason to go into the market.
Independece is all about expanding into a niche market such as TYS
and others that don't have much LCC service. This is the reasoning of why they are willing to go head to head with DL
and not WN
right now. We aren't competing against the legacy's, we are competing against the other LCC's.
I'm sorry, I believe in a fair wage as well. But alot of people I see doing the same work as I do for a LCC, I honestly see most of you as grossly overpaid. I don't believe any baggage worker is worth 20+ an hour, I don't believe any CSA (especially USAir senior agents) are worth 25+ an hour, and I don't believe any pilot is worth 100,000+ a year. I'm sorry, but this isn't the 1960's anymore. Airlines compete now on routes, just like any other free enterprise. You need to keep one thing in mind. You generally make two choices when you look for work. A. Do I want to make alot of money? B. Do I want to do something fun? Unless you are a professional baseball player, I don't think you are able to answer both. I look forward to every day I get to go to work. I don't complain about how much I make. I'm just glad I have a job in the industry still after the last few years. Maybe you need to assess your priorites and decide if you need to get a job in an industry that can afford to pay your mortgage and send your kids to college and still lets you pass out a plastic cup with a choice of beverage and occassionlly a bag of pretzels. The LCC's didnt do this to you, greedy airline employees (including upper mgmt) did this to themselves. Sadly to say, its time to pay the piper.
