Mon Sep 13, 2004 10:25 am

I was looking through the search forum and saw that Ghana flies to BWI? Why do they do this? This seems like one of those random flights......

Ghana Airways used to fly to BWI (back when they were still operating- last I heard they were not up and runing again) from Accra via Banjul I believe. Well apparently there is a big West African community in the DC area plus the this was the only airline linking West Africa to the U.S. capital/or at least an airport near the capital . So its not that random of a route.

Every flight went out full and we would still have to leave 6 cans or 2 pallets behind. The holiday season was beyond control right up until they stopped they were planning on coming in 5 days a week.

I know ET has plans on making ACC a major 2nd hub of theirs. Hopefully, they will know fly to BWI via ACC and not via FCO where they had no traffic rights 5th freedom!!!

Also ADD-FCO-EWR has been terminated and if relaunched it should be ADD-ACC-EWR!!!

From ACC, ET should provide nice connections with a few B 737NGs to major West and Central African cities such as LOS-DAK-ABJ etc.

They already fly to Washington Dulles...IAD-EWR-FCO-ADD. The EWR stop is, as you mentioned, elimated at the end of September.
