Independence In The Carolinas?

Tue Sep 14, 2004 1:23 am

Forgive me if someone's already got to this before me.... My partner is flying on Indy Air as we speak. He called me from the plane as they waited for takeoff clearance. Said that when he got to GSP this morning, there were lots of "extra" people around the gate with "AC" ID badges. He asked what was going on, and was told "it's a surprise". They said there were big plans for the Carolinas in store.

Then, while the Captain was briefing the pax on his IAD-JFK flight, he mentioned that there was to be a big announcement from Independence today at 1pm. What's going on?? I know I read elsewhere that Indy is announcing nonstops to TPA from a few Southeastern cities, but this sounds bigger than that.... I'm excited!
Finally made it to an airline mecca!

I think this new service is great, but I would be amiss if I didn't say that I am disappointed that there are no new RDU flights. I have flown IDE on three separate occasions and have loved every flight. Beautiful new CRJ's and delightful and friendly service for a rather short hop to IAD. I was hoping to see that they had added RDU-TPA as I am not a huge fan of WN but currently they are the only game in town non-stop between the two cities. Oh well, maybe sometime soon.

Incidentally, does anyone know if their 319's will be all Y class seating or are they going to offer a J class service on these new jets?
Oh how I miss Midway Airlines. A class act right to then end.

I believe that Indy Air, like JetBlue, will be all-economy seating. I wish more LCC's would have Biz Class like AirTran!
