I was just having a look at airline stock quotes on nasdaq.com and came across some rather interesting info. The market values for the US majors are incredibly low... here is what I found (I averaged the valuation to show the average valuation for the past 12 months to lessen any short-term variances)
US Airways UAIR $312,764,706
SouthWest LUV $13,827,950,000
Frontier FRNT $498,540,000
Continental CAL $1,025,000,000
NorthWest NWAC $1,080,325,000
AmericaWest AWA $598,230,000
American AMR $2,516,250,000
I couldnt find the information I wanted on United, but I'm sure you get the picture.
At prices like this, it would mean that Delta, NorthWest and Continental have a market value similar to that of Air New Zealand!!!!
I was thinking... All it would take to buy Frontier, AmericaWest and US Airways is $1,409,534,706... how sweet is that!!! not like I have that, but still... at prices like this surely a cashed up company would take the risk, particularly in the more stable carriers (Frontier, Continental, NorthWest etc etc)
What do you all think??? Which would you like to buy (I know you dont have the money... so get a loan!!!)
