Question About A 747 Trip

Tue Sep 14, 2004 11:44 pm

I have never flown in a 747 and would like very much to take a trip in one. I live in Indianapolis and obviously no 747 service is there...but does anyone know of any "semi-cheap" places i can go while taking a trip on a 747? It seems like most of any overseas flights are on a 767 or 777. And i really want ot take a trip on a 747  Big thumbs up

That's one of the most amazing airplanes inside and outside. You can buy a really cheap ticket to fly overseas in let's say BA or IB departing MIA.

You could also go to ORD and take a United 747 to DEN, LAX or I believe IAD (again).

BA recently announced an Autumn sale starting at $198 return (+ taxes, of course) to LHR, which might not be such a bad deal. Or you could try Air India from ORD to LHR or FRA - don't know the fares, but they're rock bottom, for sure.

That said, it just might work out cheaper for you to see if you can get on one of UA's domestic add-ons out of O'Hare.

I agree with Ushermittwoch, your best bet is on United. Either hop on a puddle jumper (or cheaper, drive up) to ORD and catch a 747 from there.

My last trip I flew SAN-LAX-ORD specifically to fly on a 747-400, and the first thing I did was ask one of the f/a's if I could visit the flight deck after we landed. I got a personal tour of the plane AND got my picture taken in the flight deck!! They are very accomodating and are delighted to hear from us aviation enthusiasts.

Best of luck!!
