Santa Barbara Airlines have filed papers requesting permission to fly to Portugal and Italy from their CCS hub. They will acquire 2 MD-11s to operate those routes. The article doesn't say whether they will be leased or purschased. Santa Barbara's plans are to make CCS an important hub for conections between Europe and Latin America. They already fly to MAD and TFN in Spain, Bogotá and Quito in S. America and MIA in N. America.
Santa Barbara is one of Venezuela's leading airlines, being ranked 1st for its generated revenue and 2nd in terms of flown pax. Also it's cargo company is also growing and last year it flew 850 tons of Venezuelan mango to Europe
