I think they went under. They were using ICE aircraft on ACMI leases iirc.

The above aircraft in that photo of mine, has now returned to Av8 air. It went in for maintenance at SEN a few weeks back.

I was wondering the exact same thing last night, It's been a while since I'd seen the 767 at MAN. At least the 757 is no longer loitering around Manchester and is put to good use.

The 757 was formerly with Air 2000 (DP/AMM) the aircraft was painted into full AV8 colours and should have operated on the AV8 Air Air Operators Certificate but the parent company decided to continue using the 767s on their AOC instead.

The 757 never made any revenue flights for AV8, but it did operate a number of crew training flights. Their callsign was "Pennine" but it caused too much confusion so they changed it to "Ringway". The 757 went to Astraeus for the summer, Simon says it's back with AV8 (In post 3).

I'm unsure as to what is happening there but needless to say the UK Charter industry is a tough market to live in and it wouldn't suprise me if the tour operator/ travel agent pulled the plug on AV8 again and just put PAX on other airlines (Although there is no MAN-CPT flights anyway).

If you go to CT2's website (they were the tour op using AV8), it would appear that CT2 have rebranded as "HowAbout South Africa", and will be using SCY with their long rumoured DC-10........

HowAbout South Africa’s programme is operated by Air Scandic, a privately owned aviation company whose main flying base is Manchester.

Air Scandic operates a modern DC10 aircraft which has been fully refurbished for HowAbout South Africa passengers. The aircraft is registered in the United Kingdom under the control of the UK Civil Aviation Authority.

Cabin crew are recruited within the UK, and are keen to ensure that you have a pleasant and safe journey.

The aircraft has been extensively refurbished, both front and back-ends.

To ensure that you have maximum flexibility and get the most out of your holiday to South Africa you can choose to fly into and out of either Durban or Cape Town, depending on your chosen departure date...which means that you can choose to holiday in one region or two!!
