Both types of seats look very comfortable and spacious. I would not mind trying either product!

F looks very good, with lots of privacy. J, however, seems a bit behind the times.....the seat does not seem to recline enough in the illustration; with flat bed business seats being introduced by many airlines, can GulfAir compete with a business class seat that reclines only to a "craddle" position?

Dutchjet, I agree

F class is simply fantastic!! Must be VERY comfortable and there's plenty of luxury there...
However J class really seems a bit out of time. All that gray is quite in contrast with the azure in the back and the flat beds does not seems to recline fully.

Anyway, this is definitely better than any Y class I've been on!! Big grin

F is nice, but nothing radically different from others out there....BA, CX, SQ.

J is the new Lufthansa business class seat.....and still not flat like BA.

What concerns me most is that GF are only doing the A330s and have reserved the option to do the A340s. With A340s on most (if not all) of the London-Bahrain and London-Abu Dhabi flights, GF could be denying their most profitable and prestigious routes their best service!

check this!  Wow!  Wow!  Wow!

Gulf Air to install new First and Business Class seats - 09Sep2004

Gulf Air has announced a US$10 million investment in new First and Business class skybeds.

The airline has signed a contract with EADS Sogerma to provide First Class and Business Class seats for a full refit programme across its Airbus A330 fleet, with an option for the A340 refurbishment later on.

Gulf Air becomes the first airline in the world to use a revolutionary new concept in airline seating, with its order for Evolys Business Class seats. In the First Class cabin, EADS Sogerma's Class 180 seats will be installed.

The Class 180 configuration (F) offers a private ‘cabin’ space for each passenger, which can transform into a fully functional bed, offering a unique combination of comfort and privacy. Another unique feature to be incorporated in the re-fit will be a dedicated changing room, enabling passengers on night flights to comfortably change into their Gulf Air sleep suits or other attire to further enhance the quality of sleep.

The Evolys (J) meanwhile offers an exclusive lounge-bed sleeper position, scientifically proven to be the healthiest and most comfortable sleeping position for air travellers. Each model will be customised to Gulf Air’s exact requirements.

The new skybeds are to be installed as part of a complete cabin refurbishment, which starts in February 2005 and will include the enhancement of in-flight entertainment systems. The first refurbished aircraft will be in operation from March, serving destinations including London, Frankfurt and Paris. The full refit programme will be complete by July 2005.

James Hogan, President and Chief Executive of Gulf Air, said: “This investment means Gulf Air will offer the most comfortable seating and sleeping environment in the skies today. Our new seats are the most advanced in the market and will offer the highest levels of luxury, privacy and spaciousness in the industry."

"Our aim is to create a complete passenger experience. In the last 18 months, we have introduced many ground-breaking and award-winning new services for our premium travellers, including Sky Chefs in first class, new menus, new departure and arrivals lounges across the network and new chauffeur and fast track check-in facilities."

"With the introduction of these new skybeds, we put in place another piece of the jigsaw in the turnaround of Gulf Air. Our premium passengers can now be sure that every element of their journey, both in the air and on the ground is in place to ensure that they experience the best in air travel.”

F Looks great.

J looks pretty average though.

It does make me laugh:

More like they wanted to cram in more seats, with a smaller seat pitch. Pax prefer products like BA and VS, with proper flat beds.

What made me laugh was how they're not going to provide the healthiest and most comfortable sleeping position for their first class passengers...

Very nice! F seats look spacious and comfy providing passengers with their own mini-living room so to speak. J seats look revolutionary and seem to have a more cushioned back. Of course looks can be deceiving. I hope they're comfortable.
Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

I swear - some people and their advertising - they should be locked up and the key thrown away. I'm amazed they are not providing the most comfortable seating for their F passengers. They should refuse to fly F or ask for a refund

Reminds me of the Singapore Raffles Class. Dunno why though.
