US Lifts Embargo On Lybia - New Orders Soon?

Tue Sep 21, 2004 3:30 am

Hello all,

according to BBCNews, US had lifted embargo on Lybia. Do you think we might expect any new orders for new airplanes anytime soon? Be it Boeing or Airbus or Tupolev.

Cheers,

They already signed an agreement with Sirocco Aerospace to lease 15 Tupolev Tu-204s (10 passenger, 5 cargo) last year. Not sure what happened to this order though.

I am sure now that the embargo is gone, the US will do whatever it takes to get orders etc from Libya (as if nothing happened between the two). I personally think however that they will go strictly with Airbus aircraft, but then again, who am I to say what they will get? I presume they have a better relationship with the EU over the US, since politics do play major roles in orders.
