AA To Combine SJC-HNL/OGG

Wed Sep 22, 2004 4:24 am

American Airlines will combine non-stop service between San Jose and Honolulu and Maui starting 1 November 2004. AA will still operate the two flights independently during the peak winter break period and during the summer travel period. The flight will operate daily with a 757-200 routed SJC-HNL-OGG-SJC.

You would think if they were to do that, they'd at least upgrade to a 762?

Heck, I'd rather fly down to LAX for the 763. Makes a huge difference when you are on a 4h 30m flight!

AA's 762s actually have 30 LESS seats than their 757s. With half the flight attendants and less weight to haul around, the 757 is much more profitbale in a market like this.

AA 762 config: 9 first, 30 business, 119 coach
AA 757 config: 22 first, 166 coach

Well I'm glad I'm back home then. I just took this home to Maui last Saturday, and the flight was already fairly full. I can imagine if we'd had both HNL and OGG bound pax on, I wouldn't have gotten that empty seat next to me!  Big grin
