Very interesting, my guess is Beijing--but it could be Hong Kong. How long would this flight be?

The article clearly states Beijing.

If DL wanted to serve Hong Kong, they could do so now. The new bilateral covers "old" China.

Didn't DL serve HKG long time ago? I don't remember from where though..

Another question is would their 772 be enough to cover ATL-PEK or DL will need to invest in new equipment?

With all the negative news I'm hearing on DL, I can't imagine them thinking of more routes. They should just focus on surviving.

Probably they have seen serving China a part of their 'surviving' strategy.

That's a long flight without food and drink. Remember to bring your own food. Of course, maybe Delta will pay its catering bill by then.

Well, if they considered having all food/beverages catered IN China for the return capacity, as opposed in ATL and hiring some pretty Chines girls as FAs, they could survive...

This may be the most insanely stupid post I've ever read in Airliners.net.

Yes, they used to fly LAX-HKG. Used a L1011-500 with a fuel stop in ANC until the MD-11's were online. Several of the MD's were fitted with extra fuel tanks just for the HKG flights.

Don't be stupid.  Insane

Yes, I can see it now. Delta's revised plan to achieve financial stability:

Send all of our planes to China for catering + Hire cute Chinese FA's = PROFIT!

Damn, why didn't they just check with you guys?  Insane

HKG is not governed by the US-China bilateral but rather a seperate agreement.
