Deserted Island Crashes?

Thu Sep 23, 2004 10:17 pm

W/ the airing of ABC's "Lost" last night, and remembering the Tom Hanks movie "Cast Away," I began to wonder if anything like that has ever happened before?

Meaning, that a jet airliner/freighter crashes on or near a deserted island and the few who survive the initial crash live on the island for several years until rescued...

In all the research I've done, and in the air crash remains recovery class I took at the FBI Academy when I was in the Marines, nobody ever even touched on a situation of that magnitude or rarity.

I remember there were rumors when Cast Away came out that it was based on a true story, but as far as I know, those are only rumors...
