STL Gets Several Mainline Additions

Sun Sep 26, 2004 4:44 am

New mainline to SAT, CMH, and TUL.

Increased mainline on
DCA 2 to 3x a day S80
TPA 1 757 to 1 757 and 1 S80
RSW increases to double daily S80
FLL increases from 1 757 to 1 757 and 1 S80
MCO gets an additional S80
CUN gets a Wednesday frequency added
However, SFO loses a daily

Wow, I'm really happy to see that AA is adding back to STL. More power to them!  Big thumbs up

Note: All of the additions come at different times, and I'm too lazy to look them up. If someone wants to, feel free.

On a side note, DFW drops to 11 daily from the current 13.

ORD will have 11 daily as well.

Mainline weekday departures will be about 61. Hopefully LAX will have another daily added in the future since F9 is dropping the route.

Excellent news, I'm so glad to see STL-TPA is back to two flights now. I'll stop flying DL and back to AA now!

Moman,

I would assume that they would be up for booking fairly soon. This actually is a resumption of the second flight that was cut last April. I'm not sure why they cut it in the first place, but its back now!

On another note, RIC will also be added to the destination list from STL.

The additions to Florida and Mexico are probably for the winter months, as travel picks up to those destinations. The other TPA flight cut in April was probably for the winter only as well.

Wonderful to hear that CMH-STL will once again have mainline equipment. The flights constantly ran full when it was operated 4x daily with MD-80s, and has continued to run full with the current 4x daily ERJ-140s. Southwest never added capacity in the market, so the route is still AA's for the picking. This comes only about a month after the return of mainline on the CMH-ORD route. Here's hoping that that AA continues to add to their operations in STL, as well as CMH.

I'm pretty certain that the extra Florida and Mexico flights are in response to:

A. U5's new RSW service
B. F9's proposed CUN service, ironically operating on the same days
C. WN's new five times a day to MCO

I always knew that SAT was a pretty solid performer, but I didn't think mainline would be on the route. Same goes for CMH, maybe I should have seen it coming with AA adding onto that route last April.

The mainline destinations certainly weren't what I was thinking, but its good to have them regardless. Next stop:

ATL, RDU, EWR, and the return of SJC!

Is it safe to assume that the additional flights are due, in part, to the restrictions at ORD?

Should the RDU-STL flights be upgrade to mainline, would those be originated/based out of RDU as the AE flights are now? Or would they be originated/based out of STL? AA just made the point of converting the RDU-STL from AX to AE so the flights WOULD be based out of RDU.

Will AA do a PHX non-stop during the fall/winter months?? Anyone know. I connect through DFW every month. I know I could probably look it up, but there are enough knowlegeable STL folks on line....

Now that I remember that USA3000 starts non-stop flights from TPA-STL Dec 20, I wonder if this is partly why AA is adding back? USA 3000 actually has better times for my taste. Come on AA, bring back the 741 p.m. flight from STL-TPA (AA2952,2012). Got any ideas why they dropped that one, LambertMan. It was always at least 75% booked when I flew it and mostly full.

Yeah it is, I saw a USA3000 plane at Tampa before but it must have been a charter.

Ckfred,

That's partly what I'm wondering, it kind of seems like it a little bit.

ERJ,

They rebased those flights out of RDU to free up aircraft for the extra dailies into PHL, MKE, ATL, and DEN. As far as mainline flights go, I don't really know, I would assume STL so RDU could redploy those RJ's.

Dtwinflyer,

I doubt they will bring back PHX, regardless of the fact that it had one of the better LF's from STL on any route. The yield is rock bottom, and I guess they don't see any reason to retsart the route. If I was speculating on the next new route, I'd actually say DTW or SJC. RIC wasn't much of a shock but TUL was.......

According to the schedules, one of those flights dissappears shortly after it starts. Is that just a glitch in the schedule or do they only plan to operate it for a short time? I've never really seen anything like that...
