Why Did FCA Get Rid Of An A321?

Sun Sep 26, 2004 7:12 am

Heya,

I flew on G-OOAI twice earlier in the year and have only just found out she is now with Volar/ LTE. Why was she sold, are FCA getting rid of all their A321's?

Cheers

Sam Big thumbs up

Perhaps they don't want to operate the A321 alongside their growing 757 fleet, they do like the A320 though.

I think they have started to get rid of the A321 because it doesn't have the same range and capabilities of the 757-200 (it can't do a Trans-Atlantic like they have their 752s do) and the end of the lease is a great way to let them go without suffering any penalties.

Both of which never wore First Choice titles. Don't think they're getting rid of anymore just end of lease as mentioned earlier.

Leases can be extended or new ones taken out on new aircraft.

First Choice also has those 7E7s coming along. They also took up a couple of 757s recently which were ex-US and one of the last newbuild 757s has come to them.

The A321s which came off lease and went elsewhere will be covered by existing or new capacity. That doesn't mean the remaining ones will be disposed of.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find my own way there...

The new one from Boeing flew over my head the other day, nice a quiet. Personally the 757's are much more fun but, as much as I love the 757 roar, the A321 lawnmower sound rocks! I love it when people think there's something wrong with the aircraft and start looking around because of the CFM engines, great sound Big thumbs up
