Are there any facts known about THE HAWAII EXPRESS? I just saw the pics of a 747 and of a DC10 of that airline.

All I know is that they were a low cost carrier operating
from Honolulu to the West Coast from 1982-1983. They started out using 747s and then downscaled to DC-10s.
Finally, due to the heavy competition on those routes, they went out of business. Other carriers such as Pacific East Air (which used DC-8s) and Air Hawaii
(DC-10s) also tried and failed during the same period.

Air Hawaii was started by people who had been involved with The Hawaii Express. If you look in the book Deregulation Knockouts, you'll see that both airlines had the same DC-10s (or at least the registrations on one was the same).
