MCO was on last year's list of cities considered for new service, together with PIT
got the MUC
service, and as far as I hear, this service has been doing well over the summer, and is continuing as a daily operation over the winter.
In another thread here, PIT
is again put forward for Lufthansa service, from FRA
this time, in replacement of US on the route. The airline is quoted as saying that it has a shortlist of cities considered for new service and PIT
is one of them, so I presume that MCO
might very well be on that list as well.
I have my doubts though, as to the feasibility of an MCO
route for LH
, as well as of the feasibility of the entire Florida market. During the peak winter time, Lufthansa will not be returning the daily MUC
flight this year, but will only offer this service thrice weekly. So, I have my doubts that MCO
would ever get a service. As stated before, Condor seems to be more appropriate for a Germany-MCO
flight. I remember that DL
, as part of their FRA
hub operated a daily L1011-500 between MCO
but that flight was discontinued when the FRA
hub was abolished.
As for Lufthansa, as I have already stated in the thread regarding the PIT
flight, I think their priorities as to longhaul expansion are not in North America at this time. Asia is the emerging market with China and Indian front runners for new service as soon as LH
can get their hands on some extra rights.
