World's 7 Biggest Airlines

Tue Sep 28, 2004 5:58 pm

I ran across an interesting statistic, the 10 biggest airlines (2003 net sales, billions euro)

1) Lufthansa - 14,7
2) AA - 14,1
3) JAL - 13,9
4) Air France - 11,8
5) United - 11,1
6) Delta - 10,8
7) BA - 10,4

So, due to the high currency-rate of the euro we can say AA is the biggest.

Joni, do these figures include only passenger travel? Or do they include other revenue as well, such as cargo and other services (LH Technik, AFSL, etc...)?

I'd assume they include all revenue. To see the breakdowns, you'd probably have to wade throught all those companies' annual reports.

JCS,

The euro's exchange rate now is pretty close to what it was when the currency was launched, so I don't think you can call it particularly high.
