Delta Applies For ATL-CZM

Wed Sep 29, 2004 1:59 am

Delta Airlines has applied to fly between Atlanta and Cozumel, Mexico. Delta proposes top start Saturday-Sunday non-stop ATL-CZM service using 737-800s on or about 5 March 2005.

Cozumel has seen a boom in air service in the past year. From just US Airways to Charlotte and Continental to Houston, now they have US Airways to Philadelphia, Continental to Newark, ATA to Chicago, United (soon) to Chicago, and American Airlines to Dallas. Also, look for American Airlines to announce Miami-Cozumel (they already have the route authority, as they flew the route in the late 1990s, so don't need to apply for it) for a mid-2005 start in the coming months.

I was in Cozumel last year during a Carnival Cruise stop. Awesome beaches, shopping and tequila. I would like to go back there for a longer stay. Hopefully on Delta so I can use up some miles.
Go Delta!

NW has been serving CZM for quite a few years, although its seasonal, they have.
