M'bishi Heavy To Develop 7E7 Engine

"TOKYO (CBS.MW) -- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. said Wednesday it has signed a contract with England's Rolls-Royce plc to jointly develop the new Trent 1000 jet engine to be used in the Boeing 7E7 Dreamliner jet."

Mitsubishi Heavy will be responsible for development and production of the combustor module, assuming 7 percent of the project, Japan's largest heavy machinery maker said in a statement. A company spokesman declined to comment on the potential value of the contract.

The combustors only? Your topic title is quite misleading.

No matter how you slice it, the title **IS** misleading. Mitsu is only developing one component of RR's 7E7 engine. This is common among engine projects, to have many risk sharing partners.
