CO's an interesting contrast: they have the best domestic upgrade policy bar none.... and the most draconian int'l upgrade policy known to man :'(

AA has the sweetest int'l upgrade policy, though, I'm curious to how long it'll last seeing as their 767s are no longer 3class.

Mexicana definitely. If you are an elite member, you have unlimited upgrades to J, and the upgrades are done using a published "D" fare, which you can see in any CRS. It is not like other airlines, which have a separate inventory for J and F upgrades which is not published in CRS...

Concordeboy,

Please advise me of this AA international upgrade policy. What do you mean about the 763 also? Thanks!

Singapore Airlines!

The dad of one of my ex-girlfriends flies almost every 3 weeks on SQ (for work). Business or First Class. He saves frequent flyer miles or something with this.
The family, Indonesian, has a lot of family in Jakarta. They fly there twice a year. Because their dad saved a lot of frequent flyer miles (or whatever SQ calls them) he buys economy tickets and upgrades them to business or first class tickets.

US Airways is pretty good domestically... unlimited upgrades that clear days in advance if available. I've rarely had a problem as a Gold of it not clearing three days in advance off of any fare.

American has limited upgrades for lesser elites (unless you want to pay $25 for upgrades when your few freebies are out, which is actually quite reasonable considering the better level of service they offer domestically) in the U.S. but international, as stated above, is quite good with certificate options.
