World Airways 767

Thu Sep 30, 2004 11:05 pm

World Airways announced that they would be introducing two Boeing 767-300ERs to the fleet in the fourth quarter. Is this still the plan? Any information on who is supplying these aircraft, engine type, and configuration (7 or 8 abreast). Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the 767s were put on hold following some financial re-evaluations. Its likely some additional MD-11s will join the fleet instead.

So where does that leave them with their plan to phase out the DC-10s ?

I've read 1Q 2005 is now likely for the 767 intro.

Laxintl where did you here that they would be adding MD-11s? I had not heard that. Just interested thats all. I would still think that they would want to use the 767s to replace older DC-10s.

Taken from World's press release concerning the addition of the 767:

"The current plan for 2005 is to increase the fleet to 17 aircraft with the net growth being realized through the addition of a third and fourth 767-300ER, the scheduled return of two MD-11 and one DC-10-30 passenger aircraft and the addition of two freighter aircraft."

Perhaps this is what Laxintl is getting at?

But is that still the plan ? Does anyone know? With the military situation, things may have changed.
