JAL Domestic "J" Class

Sun Oct 03, 2004 12:45 am

Japan Airlines is introducing a new "J" class on its domestic flights. This will replace the old "Super Seat", which was 6 abreast, first class type seats. The new seats, which are available at a small premium over the Y class fare, will be more dense (7 or 8 abreast on 777/747).

Has anyone experienced these and does anyone know the kind of configuration in which they'll be operated on each type (number abreast and total?)

On the 744, this will be eight abreast for three rows and 2 by 2 in the fron and on the second floor, all two by two.

744D is J 80 seats and Y 466 seats so it goes down to 546 seats in total from the previous 568 seats.
On the 747-100 B, this is the only the A galley that are J seats. So only 25 seats in total so the number of seats is 563.
On the 747-100 this is J 22 seats just in the upper deck so that puts the total to 533 seats.
On the 777-200 this is 12 seats (2 rows) in the very front. 2 x 2 x 2 and this is 389 seats in total yet some of the 777 are 2 x 4 x 2 and has more J seats so this is 62 J and 326 Y putting the total to 388 seats
On the 777-300, there are 18 seats in J and 452 in Y so total is 470. So mostly they are 2 x 4 x 2 which is like JAS's rainbow seat
