I Toured The DCA Academy, Very Interesting.

Fri Oct 08, 2004 12:21 am

Hello,

Went to MCO for a day from LGW just to tour the academy. I thought it was really good. Although I was 1 hour and 45 minutes late to to the fantastic public transport, I did get a good picture of the DCA.
For people who don't know much about them. They have about 70 planes, 152, 172, 172RG, PA28 RG, Seneca's and seminoles.
Operations centre is nive as well, good flight planning, lots of instructors and tutors to ask any questions you have. They have severel simulaters including a CRJ non motion one. Lots of places were you can study.
I thought theat they did not focus everything on Delta. It looks like they are doing good buisiness as they were many students walking around, not including the ones flying around.
I personally think that it is worth considering the Delta Academy if you want to do your license.
I will sign up for it if of course if I can get the money for it.

Any questions feel free to ask, I'll try to answer them for you.

Regards
Rob

As somebody who did a few ratings at the DCA/Comair Academy and used to be the one giving the tours, I think I have a different perspective.

wow, thts one hell of a trip for just a day! i saw the 'free flight' there advertised, but it was only for flights originating in north america :-( never mind. They seem cool, and my impression has been that their relationship with Delta is king, and they dont really sell themselves as anything else, than a partner of DL

It was a hell of a trip. No free flight but travelled rebate with BA. Was not too bad. Got club world on the way up so that was good. Didi not have enough time to crreate a jetlag.

Somebody said in this forum their tour was very delta orientated but I did not think so. But that is personell ofcourse, it might be different as well as I am coming over to do the license and then after two years I most likely have to go back to europe anyway. Visa crap.
