As a FLL
resident, I think I should voice my opinion:
First: Way to go Spirit!
Second: I think that they see jetBlue as a potential competetor on the route and want to start ASAP
That being said, jetBlue and Spirit can fly all they want, but the key to this route for a US LCC is two things:
1) a competive fare (duh)
2) The right flight times.
Many people take day trips to NAS
(for one reason on another
) so they'd have to have a morning flight and evening flight. In addition, a noontime roundtrip would probably be nice as well to compliment the service, but the first two are musts.
I think that Spirit will be very sucessful as they have a good reputation, a name in the Miami area, and they are a domestic carrier which doesn't fly props! Definently a great choice, I might use them sometime!
