Dropped UA Routes

Fri Oct 08, 2004 4:54 am

Does anyone have any idea on what some of the routes may be that UAL is dropping?

I'm not sure they're going to be dropping many routes, if any at all. The reduction in ASM's (Available Seat Miles) will come from downgrading equipment on certain routes, or having less flights to certain destinations.

The only routes that I can think of that I know for a fact they are dropping (and aren't replacing with United Express, obviously in this case) in the near future are LAX-MIA and SFO-MIA.

As stated above, and what I have read, to reduce cost to UA, they will only reduce the frequency of certain less profitable routes, instead of "getting rid" of a route altogether. Check www.UA.com for details. Hope this helps.

This winter, the Dulles-Amsterdam route is being downsized from the big ol' 777 to the 763!

Plus in the past they didn´t count UA Express Flights into the ASM statistics. If they are doing this now, then the only real change is that even more routes are going to get RJs instead of mainline and the ASM would count for UA Express carriers, but not for UA itself. Great... even more congestion at ORD´s Terminal 2...

EWR will be loosing 6 more flights, 1 DEN 2:00 Hr 1 SFO 11:00 Hr and 4 ORD flts, they will only operate 16 mainline Flts a day. EWR is taking a hit almost as bad as MIA. I haven't heard of any other station that will be cut down like MIA or EWR. I wont be surprised if you see EWR all Express Flying one day. (Everyone knows how I feel about RJ's). Also some of there transcontinental flt will go from 757's to A319's
