thanks that you were that much interested in writing comments after I told my United-opinion.
I realized that many of you really love United, something which I just can't understand.
Well, ok, of American carriers I just flew on two more, Delta and Southwest, but even compared to both of these United was not the best! Southwest employees were just great, really nice people. And Delta's mainscreen transatlantic entertainment was better than UA's "individual" one.
Of course I have heard that Northwest is famous for really "non-service", and I know their fleet age is even higher than the one of TWA which is no surprise regarding hundreds of planes older than 25 years (DC-9-10//30/40/50; DC-10-30/40 and B747-100/200). Yes, UA has one of the youngest fleets in the USA, but what I want to tell is that compared to other carriers the service is not enough!
I've flown Singapore Als on several trips, Megatops, Celestars and A310s, all of them were in absolute top-condition, more-than-clean cabins, brand new looking interiour (seats, windows), (though planes were already almost ten years old) and of course Krisworld which offers around 20 (!!!) different channels of video entertainment plus video games (not abord A310). Their FAs can just be described as great, as well as all ground staff I had contact to. They even allowed me to visit the cockpit during the flight, the pilots invited me to sit down and even a drink was offered to me in the cockpit. On Southwest the FAs immediately invited me to visit the cockpit as well, but do you know what they told me abord a UA B777? "Oh no no no, NOT during the flight!" How friendly! Reason why not? I think they just didn't want to ask the pilots, well done guys!
Cathay Pacific was not as good as SIA but almost.
Of course you will write back again and tell me how great UA is compared to other US carriers...
I don't care if UA is the best within US carriers, it almost seems it's not hard to get in that position.
The only thing I want to express is that I can't understand that UA shows and sees itself as a great, rising carrier but doesn't seem to know what complete service really is.
Other carriers don't know that too, but others don't praise their products that much.
Yes, you will write that SIA and CX are outstanding, but I can also mention Lauda Air, Emirates, Kuwait Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Austrian, Swissair, BA (after their new service structure), Virgin Atlantic, JAL or Air France (and many more) which all have realized what good service means.
Maybe some of you still attacking me after that today's comment will know what I mean after having flown one "quality carrier"...
