EK 777 To GLA On Friday

Tue Oct 12, 2004 5:00 pm

I've read elsewhere that Friday will see the first EK 777 into GLA.

Could this be a regular event ? Or is it just a one off ?

It would be great to hear from someone in the know.

Rex ?

Cheers

Just checked their website and it is a 772 (Low Density) operating. Looks like Friday only.

Anyone know the reason for this aircraft. The GLA-DXB leg is sold out, is it simply due to demand or is an A330 going tech?

I will definately be at GLA to witness it anyway.  Smile

A bit off topic, but has EK changed VIE to a 777??? When i flew the route in June it was a A330.

slightly off topic in a way, but i was at GLA last wednesday night and there was a BA 777 at GLA with the chelsea rose tail at about 2100pm. It was parked up at the old international terminal. Does anyone know why it was there, there were pax on board as i saw them going up the steps but there ws no info on the flight destination board.

next flights : BD LHR-TXL J, FR SXF-STN Y, SN BRU-LHR Y, MA LHR-BUD Y, BA BUD-LHR J, BA LCY-SNN-JFK J, BA JFK-LHR J, BA

It was there as it was a domestic flight hence the domestic pier and stand 19 can handle 777's.

'It was there as it was a domestic flight'

All right for some!

I thought of that, but the BA 757 LHR shuttle left from its normal gate 10 minutes after the 777. Perhaps it was the GLA-INV service?

Thanks Rex.

It sounds like this route is a winner for EK, after only seven months.

Hopefully it will be upgraded to a 777 on a daily basis shortly.
