SQ Sells NZ Stake; Future For VS Holding?

Wed Oct 13, 2004 1:58 am

Airwise.com reported today that:

'Singapore Airlines sold its entire 6.3 percent stake in Air New Zealand for USD$41.3 million, ending a 4 year investment that cost the world's second-most valuable airline about USD$336 million.'

Apart from the fact that this turned out to be a bit of a duff investment for an otherwise astute airline, it seems like the trend of airlines holding minority stakes in other airlines is reversing (what with BA selling it's QF stake recently). I believe that the only stake SQ now has in any airline is the 49% they own of VS. Any views on the implications of the NZ decision on the VS stake and what that might mean for VS if SQ did sell?
