CO36 Diverts To PHL

Thu Oct 14, 2004 1:20 am

Tuesdays CO 36 757 MCO-EWR made an emergency landing at PHL at about 8:30pm after experiencing engine trouble.

No injuries.

Passengers resumed flight at 11:15pm and arrived EWR 12:10am Wednesday.

Not sure if this was after repairs or a replacement aircraft.

Continental sent a 739 from EWR-PHL with a 9xxx flt number around 8pm last night. And the PHL-EWR leg of CO 36 is listed as a 739. So i am assuming the 739 was sent down to take the passengers up to EWR and the 752 is still sitting at PHL. Do the 739 and 752 have a comparable number of seats?

CO's 752 domestic config seats 24 First and 159 economy - the 739 is 18/149

Probably the 739 was flying with fewer empty seats, or maybe some pax made alternative arrangements from PHL?

Here's the info for the EDI leg. Continental must have used a 752 they had sitting at EWR. Note the 50 before the regular 36 flt number, wonder if that is a typo or a special number because of the aircraft change.

Didn't realize that CO36 was the same plane MCO-EWR-EDI... So presumably it would be an international configuration 752 which seats 16 first and 156 economy, even closer to the 739.

Those who were hoping to fly MCO-EDI yesterday are obviously not having a great day today.

Today's CO36 MCO-EWR is listed as delayed awaiting inbound aircraft, but EWR-EDI is still scheduled on time.

Ship 135 was the one that diverted in PHL.

Ship 115 operated EWR-EDI.

The reason for the 5036 flight number was for ATC purposes as the flight plan was still live in the system. Flight 36 eventually arrived in EWR at 1210am this morning.

Even though the flight number is a continuation, most of the time it's an aircraft change in EWR.

#2 Engine was down upon landing. It also stayed at the end of RW27L thus closing the runway temporarily.
