Air Canada City Passes

Sat Oct 16, 2004 5:36 am

Hey all,

I was checking out the Air Canada city passes on their website and noticed that the Calgary pass costs almost twice as much as every other city pass, and with fewer destination cities than most others. Anybody know why this is?

Thanks,
Kris

Examining the city pairs out of YYC they seem to be much farther (SFO being the closest) destinations than the other Canadian cities. Compare the YYC pairs to these examples:

Fly Calgary Pass
Calgary to:
Toronto Pearson
Montréal
Ottawa
Los Angeles
San Francisco
Houston

Fly Edmonton Pass
Edmonton to:
Calgary
Fort McMurray
Grande Prairie
Winnipeg
Vancouver

Fly Vancouver Pass
Vancouver to:
Calgary
Edmonton
Winnipeg
Los Angeles
San Francisco
Seattle
Portland

That is true, but double the price? I guess the reason YVR isn't on the Calgary list is because city pass holders would probably rather just buy a normal ticket to YVR rather than use a city pass ticket.

Rather than buy a City Pass for YYC-YVR, people would by the Latitute pass for the West. This operates exactly like the city pass but for more shorthaul pairings. Price is a more reasonable $2390 for 10 segments.
