Air Charter Service - Planes

Mon Oct 18, 2004 4:13 am

Hello All -

Advice needed for Air Charter Broker start-up.

I have an idea for a new service and have been researching the leasing or charter of planes (such as a Saab - 20 seater).

My question to all - should I charter, "wet lease" or "dry lease" a plane. Which makes more sense if I am using it mostly over a six month period. What should I ask for as far as terms? Does a "wet lease" usually include all charges pertaining to plane, pilot and crews ( hotels- food- gas for planes...)?

Thanks to all in advance that answer

Well,

As a start up it may be very difficult for you to get into any kind of lease. All the start up work I've been involved with has led to "if you lease your rates will be astronomical as you have little to no credit". I would look into (I can't give any specifics away) a different operation strategy. If you have the capital to pre pay the lease, however; I would look at a wet lease that you can easily get out of in the case that you begin to lose money and can't contain the problems.

Good Luck.
