Service Between Australia And Fiji

Mon Oct 18, 2004 8:59 pm

From what I see, Air Pacific is only operator flying from Fiji to Australia. I know they codeshare with Qantas but why doesn't Qantas operate its only service to Fiji?

Do I get PTVs on Air Pacific? B 747-400 daily between Sydney and Nadi right?

And can anyone tell me a bit more about Fiji? Heard that it is a beautiful country. Is it safe to visit? How do hotels at Fiji look like?

Qantas owns something like 43% of Air Pacific.
I have seen FJ 744's in SYD I think they may operate smaller aircraft there such as the 767 as well but I am not sure about that.

I do believe that DJ now fly into Nadi

As for what Fiji is like, I have never been there, but I've heard its a nice place. Appart from that I couldn't tell you anymore.

I'll take Air Pacific or QF any day. At least from when I was there we took a brand new (at the time) Air Pacific 738 NAN-MEL. Fantastic plane, service, and comfort. The return was on a QF 762. Service was nice, granted it was a red-eye. The QF plane was getting old, and I found the agents in MEL to be nop-notch. We were non-reving and had FJ tickets. They didn't have to let us on the QF flight, but did!

Doesn't Virgin Pacific now fly OZ to Figi?

Yes you will get PTV's on the B747-400s, which is an ex-SQ plane. Have a great flight!  Smile

Fiji is nice.

But you have to leave the main island and visit the small islands around. The main island itself doesn't have a lot of beautiful beaches you might expect from a south sea paradise. The main island itself is not that special in this way. You can have a similar experiance in the Caribic. The Atolls are what the South Pacific is famous where and makes it unique. So a sailing trip is the perfect way to visit the outlandish atoll islands, but thats also very expencive.

Security wasn't a problem for me, but Fiji is in general a poorer country and therefore not to western standards.
