AF To Send B777-300ER To Montreal (YUL) 2005

Wed Oct 20, 2004 3:31 am

Effective summer 2005,

AF 344/345 will be operated by B777-300ER instead of the A340-300.

New York JFK will also receive the B777-300ER

Great news for YUL. Actually JFK already gets the AF 773.

So that means AF 772/773/744 each daily for YUL next summer Mark?

What I see is AF345 - 773, AF347 - 744, AF349 - 332

A nice mix methinks!

I saw the AF773 in JFK over the weekend, impressive sight.
Sadly it was sent to 31L instead of 31R where I was, so no pics, arrrgh!

Cheers,

When do the 773ERs come to LAX? Also, will we still get our 744 service CDG-LAX-PPT and seasonally on one of the 777 frequencies?

I sincerely doubt AF would make that flight 777 in the first place....

You have a point Fred, but another question then about CDG-LAX-PPT. Will LAX-CDG pax be able to purchase Alizee tickets?

Depends on what configuration they decide to send:

One is 17C/57Y+/400Y

If you get that one, then yes, Alizée (which has thusfar eluded the USA market) will be offered

The other config is 40C/393Y, which will not offer it.

Definitely a nice hike in capacity for YUL.

This past summer they were consistently full on all three of their flights. It's quite amazing the traffic they have.

For the past two months, F-GITJ has been flying there. It's the 1st 744 configured at 40J 393Y. Revenue management must be studying it carefully.

But it makes sense that AT LEAST one 777 (one flight with a first class cabin)be flying to YUL among the other two flights which will have only two classes.

I am guessing that LAX will get the 40C/393Y plane simply because 40 business class seats are not hard to fill from LAX

Wow, the 777-300ER! That'd be a first for Canada wouldn't it? (scheduled service I mean).

Any changes in store for YYZ? Perhaps back to the A330? I'm getting bored of seeing the same 'ol A343's.
I like British Airways! I'm not sure why, but I do! ;-)

N120A,

"Alizée" Class is a "Premium Economy" offered only on flights to/from Indian Ocean & Carribean : PTP, FDF, PUJ, HAV, SDQ, CAY, SXM, RUN, MRU, TNR.

PPT is and will be served by a "classic" three class First/Business/Eco.

LAX will be served 10 x Weekly next winter :

1234567: AF062 - CDG.10:15AM ------ LAX.12:45PM = B744
--3-5-7 : AF070 - CDG.06:55PM ------ LAX.09:25PM = B744

AF070 continues to PPT.

To YUL, there will be "only" two Daily flights next winter...not three !

DAILY : CDG.01:15PM ------ YUL.03:00PM = AF344 - A343
DAILY : CDG.04:00PM ------ YUL.05:45PM = AF346 - B744

Ba777-236,

During the next winter season, the Daily CDG-YYZ-CDG will be ..... an A343 ! Sorry ... Sad

Fred is right. None of the 744s will have first, they will all be high density. Interesting that they are sending only 744s to LAX (cool for me), because this is a premium route, and no F class could be an issue. Also, when did AF move to T5 with Delta? I saw one of their 744s there and was shocked, as they had always been at Bradley

The First class will be removed from the B744, but they will receive two different configurations :

- For "Cassic" international destinations : 40J/393Y - F-GITJ is already in this config. (served YUL this summer)

- For the "Carribean/Indian Ocean" destinations : 17J Main deck front /57S "Alizée" Class- Upper deck / 400 M Main deck. F-GITA has just been modified and begins to operate to RUN.

If AF decides to keep the First Class to PPT, they will have to use the B772ER on this line.

FLYYUL,

The winter programm has not starded yet... but, yes, for next summer 2005 Three daily flights are schedulled to YUL : 1 x 772, 1 x 773, 1 x A332. But this is only a forecast...
AF tries to speed up the delivery of the B773ER, in order to accelrate the retirement of the remaining B742 & B743 because of the ever increasing price of oil... and the new destinations an also change : IAD was programmed and finally it's not. HKG was supposed to be the next in Asia, and finally it's PEK and SIN.
Everything is changing so fast in the aviation world... but I hope the B773ER will go to YUL !

Air France operates 15 B744.

2 ( F-GITA & F-GITJ) are modified with the new cabin.

It will take quite long before ALL the fleet is modified.

PPT has NEVER been a destination served by the "COI" product (COI = CIO = Carribean Indian Ocean ). Not only the a/c config. is different on those flights, but also is the service on board, even in J.

If ever the First class is not be anymore proposed to PPT in a long term, the J/Y product offered will be the "Classic" Long haul AF product, like on CDG-YUL this summer, served by the B774 mofified F-GITJ (40J/393Y).

Is this clearer fo you ?  Insane

FLYYUL,

The summer 05 season will start on March 27th.

2 CDG-YUL should be operated until MAY 8th : AF344 (B773ER) & AF348(B772ER).

The third CDG-YUL should start on May 9th (AF346 = B744) .

ConcordeBoy,

Yeah but a 773 can have exactly the same layout inside as a 773ER as its exactly the same size. Making my point about the 'ER extra range being wasted on transats valid IMHO.  Big grin

Yes, but non-Asian airlines consider the A-market 777s to be a bad investment nowadays; as they don't have the range/payload capability to do the majority of both transAtlantic and transAsian/Pacific scheduling alternations, as well as lower resale value relative to the B-market birds.

Intheknow,

Its part of the aircraft rotation. A 773ER might be sitting on the ground for a while after a HKGCDG flight, so they may rotate it to YUL and JFK etc.

I wouldn't pull the attitude with FLYSCC for his informations. At least he gets his information first-hand, seeing as he works with the company.

Besides, we all know anything "forecasted" is subject to change in this volatile industry.

FLYYUL,

You are probably right.
That's one of the reasons why the B773er is used to JFK this winter.
That's also the reason why so many different a/c type are used on CDG-CAI, for example (B772 / A343 / A332)... and to YUL already !

I wonder Why AC doesn't operate an extra flight YUL-CDG.

Flying Belgian --I wonder Why AC doesn't operate an extra flight YUL-CDG.

They sometimes have a second one, a few times a week during summertimes.

But just like with LHR service, AC's is far from being perceived as the premium choice. BA and AF respectively are.

Hey tonight there were a bunch of Raelians waiting in the BA check-in area apparently set to go to Heathrow  Smile

And maybe AF wants to test out the 773 a bit with their double-jetbridge in the new international pier set to open next June at YUL, before the A380 shows up there hopefully in summer '06.

YUL flights are consistently full, it's amazing!

Yesterday the 744 (F-GITJ) left full-full, 40J 393Y, 6 lucky non-revs got cleared in Y. They're down to their normal 2 flights a day, but you'd think they'd still need that 3rd one!

Wonderful station as well ... they work really well.
