To Many 777 EMR Landings This Year

Wed Oct 20, 2004 5:28 am

Is something wrong with the 777 or is it just the engines that have a factory flaw?

yes, there's something terribly wrong with the fastest selling widebody of all time. The engines are faulty, and you should run around with your head clearly covered, lest one plunge in your direction  Yeah sure

The sky is falling! The sky is falling!!  Insane

Brink777, did you bother to check the frequency of other airliners that have had "precautionary" landings this year because of engine problems? Comon man..........

Or even better...Why don't you get some facts and look at the ratio of flight miles flown and incidents per flight miles. Then compare it to other aircraft. If you were to show some "higher than normal" % for the 777 THEN you might have something to discuss.

True there is many EMR's for precoution but for some reason on A.NET it is always a big deal when it is a 777!

Because everyone thinks the 777 is a bastard child that has no place in the sky, oh wait, that's Virgin Atlantic's thoughts.

If there was an engine flaw why haven we heard of it yet look the first flight of the 777 was 10 years ago June 12th '94.

...maybe because the 777s (airframe + engines) boast the highest reliability in widebody aircraft history?

The 777 is well built and it's engines are perfectly fine. You think there are a lot of EMR Landings??? There are well more than double the ammount of EMR landings involving the 777 that go unreported. LIKE A LOT of incidents. Yet at the same time the 777 project is a major part of the backbone of Boeing. And orders are out the door daily..... (i'll get crap for that last comment)

Just food for thought.

If there were a real problem, they would do something about it. I know that-- as concordeboy stated-- they are probably the most reliable planes in the sky. EMRs take place on any A/C from 777's to A340s (CCboys favorite)... haha...

if he thought there was something wrong with the 777 he wouldn't have 777 in his name

anecdotal logic.... I'd long known/heard of Concorde's flaws before the crash, still took the name anyways  Laugh out loud
