Could this be a mistake and actually be the F class product?

Looks very F cabin layout and in the text of the article it says that F will have 12 seats on the 747 and in that shot there are twelve seats.....and it is in the nose.

If I am wrong the F product is going to be good

Amazing!

Any announcements concerning the capacity? It seems that it has a very low density. Will they make money out of it?

Another question: what will they do to their F class so that it does not get cannibalized by the new J class?

Methinks that *is* F class. The layout shown looks suspiciously like F in Zone A on a 747. Note how the forward seats are set closer together. No other seating configuration is like that except in the nose of the 747. Possible they got the J and F publicity photos mixed up?

*EDIT* FBGDavidson beat me to it. Big grin

If that is Business class, then they are not going to make any money with that arrangement. That looks VERY standard First Class in a 744 ala SQ, CX and BA.

Kanebear, you're actually right. The photos got mixed up. We clearly see flat beds on the picture, whereas the official press release talks about
angled lie-flat seats for the new J class. See the quote below!

So, does anyone have the J seat pic?

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*--*-*
From http://hq.malaysiaairlines.com

The Business Class seats in both aircraft types will also take on a new dimension. The seat will be an angled lie-flat seat with additional legroom built into the design. Other features include adjustable lumbar and headrest, privacy shell and a large meal tray. At recline position, the seat will transverse inside the fixed shell, allowing for more personal space and privacy. In addition to the privacy shell, a sliding divider will provide additional level of privacy to travelers while sleeping or working.

NICE ONE  Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up  Big thumbs up

From the news article :-

For the B777-200s, the reconfiguration involves converting the three classes (First, Business and Economy) to just two classes – Business and Economy. There will be 42 Business Class seats and 247 Economy Class seats.

The B747-400s will still have three classes but fewer seats, to enhance passenger comfort. It will have 12 First, 41 Business and 306 Economy Class seats.

This could be business from the 777. The article said the 777 would be two classed.

I'm pretty sure that is First Class. At least from my perspective, that does not look like 58" seat pitch. Its definitely the 80" seat pitch described for First Class.

The above will be the the First Class in the 744!

I'm sure C class will have something like a 2/2/2 configuration as most airlines have in their C class in the 777.

The article clearly says, that there are 12 F Class seats in the 744 and they can be counted on the picture above.

Even for F class it still looks fine for me. I mean for sure better than the current once!

Those photos are F class seats for the 744 fleet.

The C class seats will still have a 2-3-2 configuration, angled lie-flat like on many other airlines we see today.

Looks great; Malaysia has won the best cabin crew award for quite a few years and its home base is one of the best in Asia; this should hopefully bring it well deserved praise and recognition as one of Asia's leading airlines.

Incidentally, do MH's 332s have PTVs in J and Y class?

The MAS 333 don't have PTV in C and Y class. Don't know about the 332 but I doubt they have. In fact that is very bad, I flew MAS C class on the KUL-MLE-CMB one year ago.

Joule
I hope the 2/3/2 config in GCC only goes for the 744 but not for the 772!

I hear that the A330 fleet is to be retrofitted with seats removed from the current 747 and 777 fleet as those aircraft get kitted out with their new interiors so the A330 fleet may well be sporting PTVs soon.

Nice First class cabin. It most definitely does not look like a Business Class cabin to me. If that is really the first class, then it's nothing exciting, but merely a case of MH emulating what its competitors have done long ago. But of coz, I suppose MH's brilliant inflight service will more than make up for the disappointment.

Even on the 772, 2/3/2 in J class is very common among 3 class carriers and is quite comfortable. BA's excellent J class is 2/*4*/2. The carriers that are 2/2/2 in J are generally two class carriers.

I think was SQ777 was saying is that the new F cabin looks much like what many airlines have offered for years and that since it's a revamp it should offer innovations that no one has offered yet. To an extent, I agree. When I first looked at that, it looked exactly like BA's FIRST cabin, only with different colours and no wood trim anywhere.

Nonetheless, it brings them in-line with many other world class carriers and any improvement is an improvement, coupled with excellent service, it should be a success.

Very nice F cabin indeed, although nothing revolutionary.
Nice touch on the cabin walls.

IMHO the F seats look similar as JL's F seats. Maybe they come from the same supplier?

MH always strive in "Going Beyond Expectations" which is the company slogan. With the launch of this new premium product, I don't think it's anything that goes beyond expectations, rather simply to match the standards we see on other regional competitors like SQ and CX. So the 'disappointment' is that MH did not present any revolutionary products that differentiates them from their competitors. But MH can still be ahead of other carriers with the same product, by having brilliant inflight service from the world's best cabin staff (4 years running now  Big grin).

Are those the same seats that United is putting in the p.s. 757's for first class? They look a little wider but still very similar. Either way, MH is providing a great product for their pax with the onboard improvements.

Swissgabe - the new C class will be 2-3-2 for both 744 and 772.

Kaitak - MH A332s do have PTVs in both C and Y classes. However, MH A333s do not have PTVs in either C or Y class.

Just to reaffirm (to those who still think the photos are C class) - those photos are First Class seats for the 744.

I'm curious but how revolutionary can First Class cabins be any more?

The EK F cabin has those suites, but other than that, remember that this is an airplane, not the QE2.

Why are airlines still putting in these angled "lie-flat" seats in J when they bombed so badly here at VS?

Looks GREAT!!!! Not that I will be ever be able to afford to fly either Golden Club or First, but I'm collecting my Enrich Points for an upgrade one day. At least economy is great to begin with, now with the upgraded AVOD it won't be beat! I can just see MH moving their way up to Airline of the Year soon.....

I think the red and blue colours are brilliant and much more conservative and international than the current multicolour approach to their interiors.

Of course - MAS is still "Going beyond expectations" as they will also be introducing new lighting technology and automatic blinds to their First Class cabins. By revamping their inflight catering (although now operated by LG Skychefs - I believe in KUL, which is a branch of Lufthansa GmBH group?) by means of new meals/menus and crockery - I think its fair to say that MAS is indeed trying to GO beyond expectations - rather remain stagnant. Don't forget MAS is still a National carrier with national duties etc... so they certainly don't reap as much profit as they would like to compared to many other neighbouring carriers.

Absolutely GREAT news! .. I have been waiting for this to be implemented ever since the talks were flowing through from everywhere!

Two days ago i flew on their second to last flight from DXB - EWR. And now it may be unfortunate if i would never fly them again  Sad (unless i fly to Asia someday)

I have always expressed concern and criticism towards airlines with outdated equipment etc such as KLM, but with the unbeatable inflight service offered by this airline, i didnt even care how old or new any of their equipment is!

Now only was i offered extraordinary service, but being a frequent taveler with them, some of the crew who remembered me from previous flights offered me FIRST class service while i was only in Y! Not to forget the 7 bottles of alcohol that i was given as a gift for being a "royal customer" ! where else would ANYONE recieve such hospitality? EK? NEVER!

in my opinion, no matter what equipment any airline may have (just that it at least meets satisfactory levels), it is the cabin service that puts that important cherry on top. VS have all that rif raf, but the inflight service practically entails the crew yapping the flight away in the galleys like as if they are the ones who are traveling and we are just cargo!

anyways that was OFF topic .. back to the crisis:

To reply to the several few posts that were posted right at the beginning (before the new F and C class were posted) .. it could just simply be a generated "model" of the C class .. not necessarily a picture of a REAL layout. And this could just be for the purpose of show!

Thanx

The CX J class seats should be Britax - Contour.
