Guyana Air (Tarom) Tu154s At JFK In '86.

Mon Oct 25, 2004 7:31 am

Does anybody know the details of Guyana Airs use of TU154s leased from Tarom on its JFK service in late 1986. I saw one at the time at Kennedy and did a royal double take.

I believe this was the only scheduled TU-154 service to the USA... I saw this aircarft in JFK too- it took over from either a 737 or 707 for awhile.

I think Magadan Airlines used to operate either from VVO or KHV through ANC into SEA with the TU154

prior to that i believe it was a scheduled Aeroflot route, i am guessing Magadan is what was left of Aeroflot's far-east system

I remember seeing this route on the Aeroflot route map... ANC-SEA, and i am guessing they switched between IL-62 and TU-154.

Yeah, I was amazed at the time to look up and see a Tupolev roaring overhead,I was just curious if anybody knew any specifics about the service.
