Bahamasair In PHL?

Mon Oct 25, 2004 2:49 pm

This is the second time in the past week i've seen Bahamasair fly from NAS-PHL. It isn't an unusual flt number symbolizing a charter, and it is flown with a 732, so it isn't somehow connected with the US code-share. Can anyone explain?

Jetboyflyhi,

This isn't 1998, while US will certainly try to chase Bahamasair out by at least matching their fares; they presently have their hands full dealing with domestic competition from WN, FL, B6 etc. plus their own financial woes along with the possibility of facing liquidation by this February if they can't successfully reinvent themselves and cut costs.

With US in its current predicament, I wouldn't be a bit surprised that other carriers might be testing the waters at PHL for a possible future expansion should US fold. Keep in mind that an airline with a large presence in a region means nothing if they're not going to be around in the long term.

US Airways will NOT kill bahamasair. US and Bahamasair codeshare into several US cities now, PHL, IAD, PIT, and so on. Bahamasair and US Airways have a business relationship.
