Excel Airways - Airbus A310

Thu Oct 28, 2004 12:53 am

Next year Excel will operate the A310 in place of the 767-200 fleet. Also, the B757s will be replaced for newer models!

Interesting. Not surprised about the 757s, most if not all are very early ex-Eastern models. Where are the A310s coming from?

Not sure where they are coming from...not surprising as Islandsflug operate some Cargo variants.

B757s will be from year 2000, allegedly.

cheers Goldcrest!

I would luv (more of) the A310 back in the European Skies!! But what will happen to Excel's long-rage (Barbados) and to Excel's THREE-class configuration??

Goldcrest only said that the 762's were being replaced by the A310's

So I'm guess these will be more Air Atlanta aircraft?

I agree with you 100% but I can't understand why the A310? Maybe out of Bristol to long haul destinations as the A310 would be able to do it. Surely it would be more costly although the aircraft will be on lease.
Don't know who will be providing the A310 though, maybe LH?

Excel operates their B763 on the caribbean routes for Golden Caribbean. That includes SKB, GND, BGI and TAB. Maybe i missed a few... But one of the engineers said that they are looking to replace that sole 763 for another type/aircraft for use on the caribbean runs.. (TFATU-owned by Air Atlanta)

Can the A310 make down here? I remember when Monarch had to substitute their A330 with an A300, they had to make a 'pit' stop in Gander, Newfoundland to refuel, on both segments. I don't know much about the A310. Someone enlighten me...

Hi Captaink
If you go to the A/C stats from the toolbar at the top of every Airliners.net web page, and select aircraft data you will get some data regarding range for the A300 & A310.
Just to start you off,
A300 range around 7500 Km
A310 range around 6800-9580 Km depending on variant.
Not sure what the distance the destinations in the Caribbean are.
