Strange Plane Stranded At MEX

Fri Oct 29, 2004 11:17 am

Hi all:
I just took off from MEX's (MMMX) 5L, and as I was rotating, I saw a strange plane (MD-80's, DC-9, or something, white, with a sky blue rudder, which reminds Aerocaribe) stranded at the very far end of runway 5R... It was actually over the grass, not even on a platform... The actual place is exactly the opposite to the main terminal I mean, the diagonal corner of the field... I couldn't see more because I was already airborne...
Does anyone know what is it doing there? Or which plane is it?
Regards to all...

Thx Fyano... It could be Tikal... But what is bizarre is the position where the plane was...

Thanks again...

I saw that plane today taking of from MEX. It was the one in the picture, the tail was baby/sky blue. It was on the grass right next to the fence, with cars passing right next to it. It looked like it was off the remote parking postion close to the area that has been described. It definatly looked like a DC-9,
MD-87, or F-100.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Its Aerolíneas Internacionales DC9-15 ex. Estrellas del Aire.

Days after AeroCalifornia's DC9 accident, this DC9 was std and towed from a hangar nearby MAF's hangars to Azteca's hangars and was stded next to JR DC9 and the 2 left B727-100s from TAESA.

Perhaps they'll start scrapping the plane in the next days, I don't see any other reason nor a reason for moving it from one place to another in order to scrap the plane. Odd!
