I'm happy to read they are moving up to A319. They will look great.

So I could say Air Southwest are replacing their Dash 8 with 757's and use the word supposedly - then post it on here for discussion could I?

If you so wish. But PPRUNE is usually a good source of information and this story is believable. A.net is about rumours mostly, thats why its fun to discuss them, lighten up  Smile

That guy on the other forum is a nobody as far as I can see. (Can't think of a better way of putting it) He has not even posted his source.

Would the A319 even be financially viable for FlyBE?

I think the 737-300's FlyBE are getting for next summer to operate to destinations from BHX to Spain and Portugal are only a temporary measure anyway until they decide what new aircrafts they are going to order.

The A318 is a more closer match to the BAe 146 and wouldn't be surprised if we see a combination of A318's and A319's.

Any orders for new aircraft are unlikely to arrive in time for Summer 05 and will probably see these being delivered in 2006 at the earliest.

Well lets just say that this site i geared to aviation hobby and pprune is geared to people who actually work in the aviation world rather than viewing it from the out side,so maybe the people on there know more about whats going on than people on here.
Ok alot of it is rumuor thats why its proffesional pilots rumuor network it is run by pilots and other aviation professionals,as opposed to aviation hobbists.
P.S this post is not intended to get peoples backs up.

They have 146-200s and 146-300s. I think the 142s have 90 seats and the 143s have 110

Thanks Gkirk, so the A319s/733s would increase capacity by a whopping 50-70%? Is that a wise move? What will happen to services to smaller airports?

I think FlyBe may be planning on having the majority of their flights operated by DHC-8-400s with the BHX-Spain flights on the 733/319s. I guess places like SOU would get the DHC-8-400

Several of Flybe's current routes are running at full year round, and warrant an increase in capacity. The A319 is only a 40 seat increase over the 146-300. Routes that could support the 319 include:

Birmingham to:
Belfast BHD
Jersey/Guernsey
Paris CDG
Toulouse
Alicante
Malaga
Murcia
Palma
Faro
Almeria

Belfast BHD to:
Birmingham
London LGW

London LGW to:
Belfast BHD
Jersey
Guernsey

Exeter to:
Alicante
Malaga
Faro

Southampton to:
Alicante
Malaga
Murcia

Jersey to:
London LGW
Birmingham

Guernsey to:
London LGW
Birmingham

That would keep at least 10 aircraft busy full time.

Mike

Could an A319 get in and out of GCI safely?

Well they have had 737-500's landing there. So I'd assume so..

The A319 with a fuel load for the relatively short GCI-LGW hop could make it into and out of GCI no problem, year round. The 757 has been to GCI before and the A319 is, if anything, overpowered, aka the 757.

Actually, the 737 has a much better performance than the 319/320/321 for some reason. Plus, I think an A319 is heavier than a 735 anyway

The Sunday Express has a tiny article today on Flybe announcing new routes from Birmingham and announcing you can fly from there on their new 150 seater jets. Wonder what they are then???

Trb10, they will be wet leased 733s to start with (apparently Astraeus but Channex have been also mentioned). As someone has said this rumour has been doing the rounds for ages, one minute they're about to sign for 737s, next A319s. Its no doubt that flyBe are evaluating BOTH as a replacement, but until we here anything from flyBe or a manufacturer we won't know what they're going for.
