[this has been discussed] but jetblue is adding a second flight in the spring .... its loaded into jetblue.com for purchase.

Also expect to see additional JFK-ONT, SEA, SJC, and SMF in the near future

looks like the extra ONT and MSY are loaded onto jetblue.com:

JFK-ONT / Flight 177 / 0700-0940
ONT-JFK / Flight 178 / 1040-1850

JFK-MSY / Flight 127 / 2110-2315
MSY-JFK / Flight 126 / 0645-1035

B6 Expansion

Sun Oct 31, 2004 10:07 am

Hey! I often fly B6's route from JFK to ONT and the flight is nearly _always_ full. I can't think of a time I've ridden it with a less than 80% load factor. With such a high demand and the growing population of the Inland Empire, I would've expected a higher frequency of service. The route is the only non-stop link between New York and the Inland Empire. B6, however, only offers once-daily service on this route. I was wondering what the prospects of B6 increasing frequency on this route were. Thanks.

That would be up the marketing and research office at B6 to decide to increase the service. All you can do is wait and hope to see what they do.

not only is ONT and MSY getting an addt'l flight but also BOS-LGB/OAK will go from 2x daily to 3x daily. now the question will be...what about the extra LGB slots w/ the LGB-LAS route (as of right now) will be no longer next year.

what would also be cool...granted LAS is a low-yield market, but with our cost structure i'm sure we can do well flying LAS to say...BOS, IAD, or even a florida destination.

Does anyone think that B6 will bring any additional flights to DEN? Or is B6 generally trying to stay off of Frontier's turf? Any comments are appreciated.

BlueF9A320:

I think that what we have now is enough (2x JFK-DEN, 1x BOS-DEN). If BOS-DEN consistently started selling out, you'll see a daytime turn. Originally, DEN (like SEA) was created to send the planes out instead of RON'ing, its just that the service became so popular.

They were looking at, rumour has it, at LGB-DEN but with so much competition from UAL/Ted and F9, I dont think itll pan out.

That's a HUGE "if" there as I heard that flight usually only fills up on Sundays and Mondays (usually full of DEN passengers as JetBlue is not well known in BOS...yet). But I don't understand why it doesn't fill up...UA does not match JetBlue in $ for $ pricing, and you should see how high UA's walk-up prices are when it's easy to find a B6 walk-up price of $89!

Given that B6's earnings were below expectations last quarter, I would imagine that they will be very cautious about adding flights.

Long ago, when I got hired there was rumor of a HUB being built at DEN.

I mentioned it to a coworker who pointed out that if this was so, it would have been later dropped when UA filled BC - Worried with a new airport if UA went under the rent would go up.

I don't think it would have been a smart idea to jump into another cities LCC hub who happens to be a decent size HUB for UA too.

It would be nice to see another focus city though, we're hearing rumors of another west coast HUB. I'm wishing for SEA now that they've finished construction of the new terminal wing. Maybe we can finally get that flight to ANC we've all be dreaming of... Heck a SEA hub would give B6 the four corners! SEA, LGB, JFK and FLL! Whoo hooo!

If wishes were horses, we'd all be ride'n though right?

What about Reno or Spokane as a hub?

even if there was no hub at SEA, who says that B6 couldn't run JFK-SEA-ANC-SEA-JFK?

Does jetBlue DO non-hub/focus city spokes? That route would count as one. I can't think of any.. most of their flights are through JFK, BOS, FLL, LGB, OAK.. all either hubs or focus cities.. therefore, I couldn't see them using SEA for ANC.. perhaps OAK-ANC would work, however.

i wouldn't agree with that... i would call JFK a hub, LGB a hub according to them... and everything else a spoke or point-to-point, i wouldnt call them focus cities (places like OAK, FLL)... so as far as i see it they have plently of point-to-point flights such as IAD-FLL, IAD-OAK, BOS-DEN etc...

"Given that B6's earnings were below expectations last quarter, I would imagine that they will be very cautious about adding flights. "

The new planes are arriving on an ongoing basis, they will have to add flights. Also, with each additional market they open, it increases the loads on the rest of the network due to connecting traffic. The bottom line is that they are still at a point where making additions increases their "economy of scale" and is therefore a good thing.

I don't see them doing JFK-SEA-ANC either. Alaska has oodles of flights on that route and its customers are for the most part VERY loyal.

OAK-ANC would be a better idea, I have to agree....
